Pro Con 3

For the last part of my project, I finished off my sketchbook and created my boards. These are my final boards. I am very happy with the result of my NMP project. I think I have created a great solution to my brief and developed my skills along the way. Especially, my motion skills as I haven’t done any motion since learning some basics in Final Cut in my first year of Uni. So to further these skills I learnt how to use Adobe After Effects.

I then went back and looked at my interactive poster to make sure there was nothing else that I could change on it. However, I thought it would be better if I had a different example on each poster, to give more of an idea of how it works. These were my changes with different examples on each poster. I think this looks a lot better and I am now ready to hand it in like this.

I then reworked the underground poster. These are the developments for this poster. In the end I decided to go for the last one as when printed out it looked the best and balanced well.

I then moved onto the ruin map poster. These were the developments in colour. In the end I decided to go with the last one, as when printed the colours seemed to balance the best.

I then reworked the colour of the Nazi poster. I went back to the orange and green colour from the beginning, but in the end I decided that I liked the last one best, as when printed out the colours looked the best.

As I wasn’t quite happy with the colours of my posters, I decided to try changing them. I thought I should limit my palette to maybe 3 colours, so that the posters look like they all go together. I decided to add purple to my already chosen colours of green and orange. I started with this poster (human hybrid). These are my experiements of colour with this poster. In the end I decided that I liked the last one best, as the colours seemed the most balanced.

After speaking in my seminar about making my A-Z digital to fit with the rest of my project, I came up with the idea of having an interactive poster (like cleverbot) where an alien sends a message on the poster and then whoever is viewing the poster can reply and talk back to the alien. I really like this idea and how it looks. The layout of the poster has the message area at the top and the keypad at the bottom. The keypad is interchangable between the alien language and the english language. As this poster is interactive I think it will also create more of an interest in my project from whoever is viewing it.

This was the response video I created as a reply to the alien communication video. I kept the same styling as the alien communication, because I think that if in reality we were replying to aliens we would want to reply in the same kind of way that they sent their message so that it increases the probability that they would understand it. I switched the colours around so that it is now an orange background with green text to emphasise that it is a reply. I like this video. However, I don’t think it is as good as my alien communication video.

After my seminar, I decided that the first thing I would tackle is changing the colours of the posters, so that each one is different. I kept the constellation poster the green and orange colour because I think these colours work well together on this poster. I changed the other posters to quite contrasting colours so that they would stand out. However, I’m not sure whether they work as well as when they were all orange and green. Maybe the colours in these need rethinking.

Seminar - NMP

In my seminar I discussed my work so far. My alien communication video went down really well, and so did my posters. However, my tutor thought it would be a good idea if I picked about 4 or 5 posters and created each one in different colours. Also he thought I should rethink my A-Z idea as it seems to be taking a step backwards from the rest of my development work. My project so far is very digital based so to do what I was going to do wouldn’t really fit in with it. Therefore, I am going to rethink this to try and make it a digital piece.
